Overview

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland (depending on local reference patterns). They also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, trauma, peripheral vascular surgery and hernias. General surgery is the subject of third MBBS Part-II (Final MBBS).

Facilities

Department of surgery trains medical students in the Hospital to be able to address the common surgical problems encountered in day to day practice. The objective is to train the medical students to be able to provide quality care to patients with surgical problems. The attached teaching hospital is equipped with ultra diagnostic and therapeutic facilities to provide an excellent academic & clinical environment to medical students. A variety of surgical disorders are treated regularly. Facilities to carry out routine OPD & indoor activities along with 24 hours emergency services are available..
